ABC to screen first feature-length Bluey episode The Sign before it joins Disney+

New Bluey episode Ghostbasket debuts in April

Australian public broadcaster the ABC will debut the first feature-length episode in the Bluey franchise before its global release on Disney+.

Special episode The Sign runs to 28 minutes, four times the length of the average episode, and will air on ABC Kids and join streaming platform ABC iview on April 14.

The show features a voiceover cast including Deborah Mailman (Total Control, Mystery Road) and Joel Edgerton (Dark Matter, Obe One Kenobi) and returning stars Patrick Brammall (Colin From Accounts) and Rose Byrne.

The premiere will be complemented by a new regular-length episode titled Ghostbasket the week before. Both shows are written by Bluey creator and writer Joe Brumm, directed by Richard Jeffery and produced by Ludo Studio.

Co-commissioned by ABC Children’s and BBC Studios Kids & Family, Bluey has retained its position as the top kids show on Australian broadcast television and the most-watched series ever on ABC iview. Internationally, Bluey was the second-most-streamed show in the US last year, after drama Suits, and also holds the top spot on the BBC’s CBeebies channel in the UK.
